Danny Clegg & Hunter Long

of Hemlock and Pine - a Tale of Two

By Hunter Long

Once upon a time,

There was a meeting

Of a Hemlock and a Pine

While of the Northwest,

Hemlock did not hail

From the western side within

The Land of Trees Evergreen.

Over the Cascades, his homeland

Filled with soil of such substance.

Valley, of green and rust.

Desert, Haven, Heart

Yet, Hemlock could not but long

To catch his eye upon a sight

Of life within the Emerald City.

To the east of the West,

Pine was raised in and amid

A Hand of the Midwest,

The Land of Lakes Great.

Here, in his homeland,

Sat a site made monumental.

Big House, of blue and maize.

Center, Church, Bastion

Still, Pine could not but want

To turn his ear out for a call

Of life alongside the Sound.

Within the City of Goodwill,

Hemlock and Pine did find

Branches and roots intertwine,

Woven between, in, and out.

Joys, Sorrows, Lives

Then, Pine would bind Hemlock

Amid their thicket, among each other,

Of and on their life’s seventh ring.

Now, the time is upon us

For these two to join as one

Tied in a knot, tightly wound.

Match, Marriage, Matelotage

Of a Hemlock and a Pine.

We’re getting married!

We would love for you to join us for an autumnal weekend in the home where our relationship has grown.
